Second Year Garden Graduates

Last fall we planted our landscaping,  watering things with loving care almost every night.  Most things did not do much but survive, but this spring I think it is all paying off.  The roots must have taken hold and now we are getting blooms and much larger leaves than we saw last year at their peak. Look at some of the big showoffs — Peach Astilbes and Moonshine Yarrow.

To set the record straight that I am not claiming to be anywhere close to a great gardener, I’ll also show you the sweet little Boxwood shrub that we planted in the fall.  It was one of 5 and the other 4 have survived more or less, with sprinklings of yellow branches mixed in.  It does seem that the worst damage is on the bushes closest to the front door, where I let Fionny out to pee.  I wonder if there is any relation?
