Okay, here is my attempt at fooling the normal development of my hens. I don’t have plastic eggs or golf balls, but I found a couple round-ish rocks and placed them into two empty nests.
Let us see if it causes my chickens’ bodies to click into gear and start releasing the eggs that have probably been hiding in the queue. As I stood outside the coop, looking into the trap door to the nesting boxes, the curious chickens filed in to see what the sunlight and breezes were coming from. Cooper, always the vigilant one, hopped up onto the ledge and peered in to check things out. What a fine guardian he is!
