Shrubs Preparing for Winter

Even our landscaping is thinking about the winter.  Last year we planted Winterberry bushes because they have such beautiful red berries that stand out against the snow all winter.  Actually, we thought we’d gotten Winterberry but we accidentally bought Serviceberrry bushes instead.  They get spectacular orange leaves this time of year but their berries are dark blue and not too exciting.  We had to go back to the nursery to get three more plants so I’d have those red berries.

Now that we’ve had a few frosty mornings, the bushes are doing their thing.  Aren’t they pretty?  One day they will form a big bushy hedge on the edge of the prairie. 10131414541013141454a
