It’s been cold, cold, cold, but the weatherman predicts a high of 58 degrees today. The sun was sparkling off the pond so beautifully that I could imagine the lawn green and the fields sprouting the beginnings of fresh grasses for the new year. It’s only in my imagination so far.
The sunshine gets our brains revved up on garden plans and new projects. From this vantage point, it seems like anything is possible with a bit of elbow grease and a little funding. The new vineyard is on the agenda, so there is a lot of work to do to get the trellises up and the soil prepared. The vines are already ordered and mostly paid-for, so there is no turning back now.
A couple new packages of bees have our names on them and will arrive when it is warm enough to install them in their new homes. It has been too cold to open up and inspect the three hives, but I am only expecting one to have survived the hard winter.
