Hello! My name is Nancy, and I have never blogged before, but I want to begin sharing the story of the hobby farm I am building with my husband, Joe. We have named it “Bluestem Pond Farm” because we intend to:
- Make it into a small working hobby farm
- Plant the fields with native prairie grasses, such as Big Bluestem
- Create a farm pond and stock it with fish
We started with about 7 acres of soybean field on a rolling terrain bordered by a Michigan forest and a two-lane highway. Follow our blog to see how this dream of ours develops.
Hi Nancy:
It looks like your home will be a craftsman or arts and crafts style. If it is I’d be happy to put a link to your blog on mine at http://www.artsandcraftsbungalow.com on my house blogs page. Many people buy older & homes & fix them up but it’s a nice change to see someone building this style. You can email me at susanlgreig {{{at}}}} gmail.com to let me know.

Hi, Susan! I took a brief look at your blog and will want to take some time and read it in depth as soon as I get some time. Thanks for finding mine and commenting. I love the Arts & Crafts bungalow style also and since we already had the land, we worked up the basic design we wanted and had an architect draw it up in detail. I did not understand the level of detail until it began to come together and I saw it for myself, for instance the beautiful woodwork details. I’ll show more of that after we move in and begin decorating. It’s fine to add a link to my blog.
Yes, I love seeing people truly living their dreams!!!! Pleasure to meet ya!!!!
I’m so glad you found me because that led me to finding you! Looks like this might be a fun place to hang out. At least a few extra hours in the day would be nice though… 😉
New friends are always a nice surprise! Glad to meet you.
I’ve nominated you for the Awesome Blog Content Award. You can read all about it here: http://thek9harperlee.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/tiara-time/. Thank you so much for the invitation to visit your lovely farm and for showing your readers what it means to live your dream!
Thanks so much! This is something new for me.
🙂
Hi, Nancy. Thanks for stopping by my blog and following. Can’t wait to read more about your farm.
This is really a very nice blog. My wife and I lived in Michigan four years. We live in southwest Idaho now (Boise). The winters here hold nowhere near the beauty.
Wow, Kenton, I am honored that you like my blog! I read all your posts and love your stories. I was actually born in Boise although I was only there for a year while my father was a doctor at the army base there. I’d love to visit Idaho and find the house where I spent my infancy.
Glad to meet you, Nancy!
Hi Nancy,
I’ve just nominated you for the Liebster Award. To find out what it’s all about and keep the chain going, stop by at : https://lindathompsonsite.wordpress.com/2015/05/04/and-the-nominees-for-the-liebster-award-are/
Thanks.
Dear Inkplume, that was so flattering and nice of you to nominate me. Thank you!
One of the reasons I am following you is that one day I dream of owning a working farm. I never thought about it being a hobby farm. I am excited about reading what you encounter.
I just read your “About” and am hooked! I’m looking forward to reading more 🙂
How have I not read you before since I read about 3/4 of the blogs you follow? I will get to know you better now.
Thanks for following! I’ll go check out yours, too.
…Oh. I can’t find a link to your blog. 😦
