The Mutant Jumbo Egg

My one Isa Brown hen lays a jumbo egg every single day. I have been mulling over trying to hatch a few of them to grow my own flock of Isa’s. I have noticed lately that her eggshells are getting weirder and weirder, though. Maybe her genetic makeup is not as great as I was thinking?20160804_091226

    It tasted like any jumbo egg. Nothing unusual.

    That is a VERY unusual looking egg! I wonder why the shell looks like that?

  5. It’s ‘body checked’. It can mean a stressed hen but perfectly ok to eat. They do look weird though don’t they?

    Oh, that’s interesting! I’ve started returning empty eggshells (crunched up) to the coop answer they gobble them up.
